Finally, LG has decided to jump into the Android bandwagon by releasing LG InTouch Max GW620, its first ever smart phone running on perhaps the most popular operating system right now, the Google Android. Aside from the fact that it uses the same OS as the Motorola BACKFLIP and HTC Hero, which are some of trendiest devices today, this phone also functions a lot like a pocket PC with all its many useful features.
This phone is very easily customized by downloading and installing various applications depending on your interest. If you’re the type who likes to play games, there are thousands of game apps that you can choose from. If you’re the type who likes to keep updated with current events, there are several useful news and weather apps that you can get. If you’re a fan of social networking sites such as Facebook, MySpace or Twitter, there are apps you can install that would integrate all of these to make it easier for you to stay connected with your family and friends.
The Appearance
The phone comes in a black casing with a surprisingly chic silver slide out keyboard. Measuring only 106 x 55 x 12 mm and weighing only 139 grams (with battery), this smart phone is sure to be a looker everywhere you go. It has a 3 inch colour transflective TFT touch screen display that can support up to 262k colours and has a brilliant resolution of 320 x 480 pixels. The five line QWERTY keyboard slides out easily, making it very easy to work with and giving it the feel of a real pocket PC.
The Specifications
As mentioned earlier, this smart phone uses Google Android 1.5 OS. In addition to this, it also runs on a powerful 528 MHz Qualcomm MSM 7200A microprocessor. It provides inherent support to the following network connections: GSM 850 / GSM 900 / GSM 1800 / GSM 1900 / UMTS 850 / UMTS 1900. It also provides support for UMTS, GPRS, HSUPA, HSDPA and CSD data links. It has a 512 MB of ROM and 256 MB of RAM.
Should you have the need to further expand the internal memory, you can utilise the SDIO, microSD, microSDHC and TransFlash expansion slots. It also has a microUSB 2.0 client (480 Mbit/s) and Bluetooth 2.0 with EDR (for your stereo headsets). It comes with wireless LAN at 802.11g and a built in GPS module which you can use for a-GPS (or assisted Global Positioning System), which you can use for satellite navigation.
The Features
The great thing about this phone is that it comes with a built in 4.9 megapixel camera with autofocus, LED flash and 1x optical zoom. This camera is a whole lot better than what you would find in a lot of smart phones in the market today.
Until now, there is no official announcement as to when the LG InTouch Max GW620 will be released, though it would probably be during the first quarter of 2010.
