Setting Up Nintendo DS Local Wireless Connection

Do you want to play a Nintendo DS game with your friends, but you don’t know how to set up your console and your friend’s system? Here is how.

Before you follow the step-by-step tutorial below, you need to know that there are two kinds of multiplayer game play: Multicard Play and DS Download Play. Multicard Play requires that each player has a copy of game on each Nintendo DS console. While DS Download Play requires that only one console has a copy of the game. The Multi-Card Play usually give players more game options than on DS Download Play.

For connecting two or more systems, Nintendo DS consoles feature wireless connection. There are two kinds of the connections: local wireless and Wi-Fi connections. The local wireless connection is for connecting two or more consoles locally. While Wi-Fi connection needs a router to connect the consoles. Wi-Fi connection is also used for accessing Internet in a hospot area. (Wi-Fi is the standard wireless connection – also used in computer networkings.)

Here is how to setup local wireless connection using the games featuring DS Download play.
1. Turn your Nintendo DS on. Make sure, you have inserted the game card into the system slot.
2. When the “Touch the Touch Screen to continue” message appears, tap the screen using the stylus. If the Startup Mode of the host DS console is set to automatic, the game’s menu will appear. But if the Startup Mode is set to Manual, tap on the box for the Nintendo DS Card Slot using the stylus to start the game.
3. Turn on the other Nintendo DS console that will be connected to the systems running the game. Tap on “DS Download Play” icon.
4. Then the list of available games will be displayed. Tap one of the titles you will play to begin download the game.
5. Make sure you know the multiplayer instructions to play the game together with your friends.

Multiple Game Cards Play
For playing this kind of games, you have to see its instruction manual. Each game has its own setting for playing it with your friends.

If you have a problem connecting your system wirelessly, make sure that there is no signal interference from other devices. The devices often arising the problems are wireless LAN, computers, cordless devices, microwave ovens, and so on. It is recommended to turn the interfering devices off, or move to the other area that free from signal interference.
