Vodafone is launching its amazing 360 service with two Samsung manufactured mobile phones exclusively for Vodafone, the 360 H1 and 360 M1. The Vodafone 360 M1 will have similar but lesser specs than the H1 as it plays the role of the budget mobile device, while the H1 is the bigger “badder” smart phone.
In both ways, the two mobile phones are equally amazing. What the 360 M1 lacks in terms of hardware and function it makes up for in terms of being very lightweight and color choices.
There are a lot of significant differences in the hardware of the two devices so expect an equally significant difference in price too. Still, both mobile phones will be fully compatible with the 360 service by Vodafone (hence the name) and expect to make full use of its functionality.
The Vodafone 360 Service
The 360 service is a synchronization system that combines data and information from your mobile phone with your online accounts and computer. This means you can track the history of messages and archives of conversations with a single contact. The 360 access Facebook, Yahoo Messenger, Google Talk and many other online accounts in both instant messengers and social networking websites.
You will be kept abreast on status updates, profile changes, new messages and other important and relevant data regarding your contact. From your mobile phone, you will be able to see a per-contact summary of information and messages. If that sounds pretty hectic, do not worry, the 360 interface is easy to manage and access. Thanks to the simple rotating display, you can easily find people and contacts with no problems at all.
The Changes from the H1 to the M1
If you compare the specifications of the two devices side by side, it is obvious that the Vodafone 360 M1 really has lesser features than the 360 H1. The biggest differences are the lack of wireless LAN for the M1 and the loss of the AMOLED touch screen. The 360 M1 sports a small 3.2 inch standard TFT touch screen display and no Wi-Fi capabilities. While the touch screen adjustment is understandable, not having wireless LAN is a big loss since that capability is a common standard in most smart phones released recently.
Another reduction is with the camera. The original 5 mega pixel camera has been reduced to a more practical 3 mega pixel camera. The M1 still gets to keep GPS functionality, HSDPA and Bluetooth. Considering all the hardware changes, it is strange that the 360 M1 is not that much smaller than the H1.
Should You Switch?
Since Vodafone is carrying the two 360 models exclusively, the only way to get them is to sign up for the Vodafone carrier service. This is easy if you currently do not have a plan. For those who still have a contract, there are plenty of things to consider. We seriously doubt people will be willing to jump ship just for the 360 M1, but the 360 H1 is pretty powerful and an amazing Linux Mobile smart phone, and that just might how Vodafone will be getting people to switch.
