A discussion of the value proposition for the Samsung CLP 600 Printer – Samsung CLP 600 Toner is the focus of this short article. The Samsung CLP 600 laser printer is a full color laser printer. It prints at a deep, rich 2400 X 600 dots per inch resolution, for graphs and graphics with the quality of what an offset press produces. This is a printer that is perfect for large workgroups within a larger enterprise, or for a medium size enterprise. It handles letter size, legal size, envelopes, labels, cards and transparencies on plain paper or card stock.
This is not a beast, measuring (in inches) 18.5 X 18.5 X 17.8 in width, depth and height. In metric terms, that is (in centimeters), 46.5 X 46.5 X 44.5. The Samsung CLP 600 is not for the small office/home office segment: it weighs a solid 62.7 pounds (28.5 kilos) and 32 megabytes of RAM, SPL-C language simulation and a 250MHz processor comes standard. Full color legal size prints roll out at 20 pages per minute, with letter size full color prints being produced 21 times per minute. Paper capacity (20 bond) is 350. And you’ve got to like the 45,000-page duty cycle.
Supported operating systems are Linux (Red Hat 9.0 and 8.0 and SuSE 9.2 and 8.2), Apple Mac (10.4 and 10.3) and Microsoft Windows (XP, 2000, ME and 98SE) and Server 2003. The inclusion of the Server2003 compatibility is important, because it allows the Samsung CLP 600 to plug directly into a LAN and act as its own print server.
The Samsung CLP 600 laser color printer has a 450 watt power consumption, and is certified for Vista. A fully loaded Samsung CLP 600 Toner cartridge is included (4000 page rated) and noise levels are (idling) 30db and (operating) 50db.
For me, the plus points of the Samsung CLP 600 are the previously mentioned ability to directly connect to the LAN, eliminating the need for a print server, the 250 MHz processor and the standard 32 megs of RAM, and the 2400 X 600 dots per inch resolution. On the downside, it is not as fast as some other printers with a similar line-up of features and in the same price range. The average print speed in this feature/price market segment is 28 pages per minute (the CLP 600 is 21 for letter size, full color).
For a small business verging on the medium size business, if you have extremely high color print demands, this might be a good unit for you. No double-sided printing, by the way. But keep in mind – this is not a product designed for the SOHO market. There are other Samsung models that will suit you better.
With that said, the Samsung CLP 600 was one of the first next-generation printers aimed at the SME and Workgroup markets. There are tens of thousands of these guys churning out copy every day of the year. The CLP 600 is a good example of over-build, with a 4000 page capacity toner cartridge, 32 megs of RAM and a 250 MHz processor.
Samsung CLP 600 Toner is formulated to function at the settings of the Samsung CLP 600 laser printer. A full color cartridge is included with the unit and is rated at 4,000 pages. The popularity of unit means Samsung CLP 600 toner and compatible non-OEM color ink cartridges are widely available. For more information, check out our site http://www.qtoner.us.
