The HP 2133-KX869AT 8.9″ mini laptop is HP’s latest contribution to the booming netbook market. It has an all aluminum case that makes it extremely lightweight, suitable for people who travel frequently. This little laptop has an integrated tri-mode Intel 3945ABG wireless LAN (802.11a/b/g), with up to 54 Mbps at 5 GHz (802.11a) in speed. For more traditional LAN connectivity, the netbook also has a 10/100/1000 Gigabit Ethernet port.
The hardware components consist of a 120 GB hard disk, 1 GB RAM (extensible to 2 GB), and a 8.9 inch screen with excellent resolution. It is powered by VIA C7-M ULV processor that has a speed of 1.2 GHz, 800 MHz front-side bus and a 128 KB L2 cache. Like many netbooks and ultra-portable laptops, the HP 2133-KX869AT is not as powerful as many regular computers but it is good enough for most basic applications like word processing and surfing the net.
One of the features that I really missed was the DVD drive. There is a provision for connecting an external drive that is just not the same as having an integrated DVD drive, but all in all, I think it is a small price to pay to increase its portability. The HP 2133-KX869AT comes with the Suse Linux operating system where you can choose to install a Windows operating system if you prefer (the netbook does not include a Windows operating system). I would highly recommend this laptop to a traveler or students who are constantly on the move. It is easy to lug around and also has a very well designed keyboard interface.
