The HP 2133 Model KR922UT Mini Note PC is a netbook designed specifically for students and road warriors needing basic on the go computing power.
One of the more interesting points of this netbook or mini note as HP calls it, is that instead of a hard drive with moving parts for data storage, it uses flash memory with no moving parts. The on disadvantage to this is that the flash storage isn’t very large. It only has 4 GB of memory. However, flash memory does have its benefits over a hard drive with moving parts. Flash memory is faster and more reliable than standard hard drives. Because it is a solid state memory drive, starting up is quicker as well as application data access. For on the computing, sometimes you get knocked around, but with flash memory, because there are no moving parts, you don’t risk losing data if you hit a bump.
While most netbooks do not have an integrated optical drive, the HP 2133 Mini Note has an optional optical drive by way of an optional HP External MultiBay II.
At only 8.9 inches, the HP 2133 makes for an ultra portable solution for students and road warriors. The native resolution isn’t bad either at 1280 x 768 pixels. That’s a native 720p high definition resolution. And also, the audio card is high definition too coming out of 2 watt stereo speakers.
Connecting to a network is easy with both the integrated 54g wireless LAN and Gigabit Ethernet. The 54g wireless LAN is compatible with 802.11b/g wireless signals too.
Unfortunately, the battery life is only 2.25 hours with the 3 cell high capacity lithium-ion rechargeable battery.
But at only 2.8 pounds, this netbook does serve its purpose of casual on the go computing for web surfing and business applications.
