LG BD390 Blu-ray player is so much more than just a regular Blu ray player. The player itself is compact and small and can easily fit into your home theater system shelf. The buttons on the console is straightforward and overall, quit easy to install. It even has USB input for you to hook your external hard disk into to watch movies. Do take note however that it only supports MP3, JPEG, PNG, AVI, WMA, DivX-HD, XVID, and MKV format files for the moment.
Another major feature on the LG BD390 Blu-ray player is that it has integrated Wi-Fi capabilities. You can watch a whole array of online content (such as YouTube) without plugging in a network cable. When connected through the wireless network, you can also access your hard disk and play the files right out from that server. The load up and response of the user interface is pretty decent and won’t hinder your viewing pleasure.
On the technical side, the LG BD390 Blu-ray player has onboard decoding for Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio, which means that you don’t need a separate AV receiver to decode those sound formats. There is a HDMI output, which can output both 1080p HD video and multichannel high-resolution audio. There is also a component video output, which is capable of outputting Blu-rays at 1080i and DVDs at 480p.
There are only a few main powerhouses in the Blu Ray player industry and LG is among them. From our tests, LG seems to be leading the race with this model. If you’re looking for a Blu Ray player that has a great feature set, great specs and a decent price tage, I would recommend getting the LG BD390 Blu-ray player.
